The House of Love Documentary

From late 1987 to the middle of 1990, Sydney's Horden Pavilion was the wildest place to party on the planet. This is the story of The House of Love.

Overview
From the end of 1987 to the middle of 1990, the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney was the wildest place to party on the planet. Within this short period of time, alive with decadence and creativity, Sydney became the focus of the burgeoning House Music phenomenon that was hypnotizing the youth of the world. Dancing, drugs and music were fast becoming the ‘Punk’ of the new generation.

Opportunity
Hailing from an Instagram profile, The House of Love transmitted rare and never seen before content going back 40 years in Sydney. With a documentary well underway when Anywhen approached, producer Mark Murphy had all the content to access with a unique opportunity - to tell a story in Sydney’s critical history.

Anywhen Studio approached Mark Murphy and took on this content to embark on a storytelling journey. Anywhen created a scrapbook concept using WordPress to best tell the story for all who were there, and those had no idea what a fantastic place Sydney was, and still is.

Space Between Space

Neither one genre nor another, New Weird Australia is designed to challenge our collective understanding of what music can and should be.

Overview
Reflecting on the idea that we’re currently living through a liminal point in time; we may never return to many of the pre-Covid paradigms, and we have no real sense of what may come next.

Space Between Space is an album that collects twenty-eight explorations of this idea. All of the work is new and unreleased, created in and around this splinter in time. Responses range from the anxious to the audacious, the tumultuous to the transcendental. All propositions are valid.

Opportunity
Anywhen Studio produced a digital artwork and art direction for the compilation. We explored what it means to be forced into the end of the old and the forming of the new for electronic musicians and artists.

Release
The compilation was released in April 2021

All proceeds from this release was donated to the Barpirdhila appeal, which supports Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander artists & community affected by COVID-19.
